Is there a reason why, when adding multiple seasonings/ingredients to a product, such as a chicken schnitzel or other, that people don’t just mix all the ingredients together before adding it in so it’s more cohesive?

The reason people often don’t mix all the seasonings and ingredients together before adding them to a dish like chicken schnitzel is mainly due to a desire for diverse flavors and textures.

Here are a few factors to consider:

      1. Individual Flavor Profiles: Each seasoning or ingredient used in a recipe contributes its own distinct flavor. By applying them separately, you allow each component to shine and create a more complex and layered taste experience.
      2. Textural Variation: Different ingredients can have varying textures and coatings. For example, breadcrumbs provide a crispy outer layer, while spices and herbs add a flavorful crust. Applying them separately ensures that you achieve a desirable balance of textures.
      3. Customization: Mixing all the seasonings together beforehand limits the ability to adjust or customize the flavor profile to individual preferences. Some people may prefer more or less of a particular ingredient, or they may want to experiment with different combinations to find their ideal taste.
      4. Visual Appeal: Applying ingredients separately can also enhance the visual appeal of the dish. For instance, sprinkling herbs on top of a chicken schnitzel adds an attractive pop of color and freshness.

That being said, there are instances where mixing seasonings and ingredients together beforehand can be beneficial. It often depends on the specific recipe or personal preference.

Some recipes may call for a pre-mixed marinade or seasoning blend to ensure even distribution of flavors. Ultimately, it’s up to the cook’s discretion and the desired outcome of the dish.

Feel free to experiment with different techniques and approaches to find what works best for you and your taste preferences.

Cooking is an art, and there’s always room for creativity and personalization in the kitchen!
