      Hi Holly!

Congrats on baby number 3!! My husband and i have one for now, but

would love to have 3 when all is said and done!!

We have used cloth diapers for Mason and we love them. I ordered them

off And i used to learn how to fold

and care for the diapers. The best thing for our money was the

Chinese pre-folds and generic plastic diaper covers (we got 3 covers

for each size). we bought 40 small diapers (we used them until Mason

was 4 months old) and 50 large diapers (MAson will be in these until

we potty train him). We do laundry every 3 days having 50 diapers. I

do use disposable diapers when we go out and he wears them overnight,

it just makes it so much easier on us!! I pay VERY close attention to

our budget, and i know for a fact that we only spend $20 at the most

on disposables every month (that’s on a busy month when we go out a lot!!)

as far as cleaning them I use our regular laundry detergent and you

don’t use fabric softener, instead you use white vinegar (very

cheap!!). That helps keep the pee smell away. You can also put

baking soda on the diapers when they are in the pail to keep the smell

down (I buy mine at the 99 cent store, 2 for $1!!)

I hope that helps you. feel free to e-mail me at if

you have any specific questions. just put “cloth diapers” in the

subject so i don’t accidently delete it thinking it’s junk mail :).

      > Okay, you budget-minded moms! I need some advice, tips, secrets or

whatever you’ve got regarding cloth diapering your baby!

      > I am due to give birth in a few weeks and would like to save money

by using cloth with this baby (we have two before this one, so I know

the money it costs to use disposables!)

      > What kind of diapers did you prefer?

      > How did you wash your diapers?

      > How many are needed?

      > Thanks SO much!
