I basically got the idea from Grim Hollow except that the Grim hood is made out of paper mache to make it considerably less top heavy and lighter. How’s it made you ask? Well you use 1 1/4″ PVC pipe, about 5 feet high or so, spray paint it black (which makes it easier to hide.)
Paint a 1″x2″ board black, so you only have to touch it up later.
Cut a short piece for the shoulders and arms (a 1″x2″ works best). Form a hood shape out of chicken wire, this is where you’ll add your paper mache or you can use Monster Mudd, but that stuff is heavy as hell. Also wrap the arms with the chicken wire.
This really helps to keep the Ghost from falling apart if it’s a bit windy.
The hands are made of out 2 different sized glue sticks that are cut and then glued together to form finger joints. Warm the whole thing and attach dryer lint or dip them in liquid adhesive for extra support.
drape some cheesecloth over the hood, make sure to tear the bottoms to give it a whispy look. add a lantern to the hand (attach it to the arm for support).

inspiration for the project here.
