Absolutely correct- My dad is a PhD microbiologist and have taken/taught microbiology myself – The alcohol gel is better than nothing, but not by much….best is soap, water and the actual action of scrubbing the hands together. Lisa G.

Not so. I took microbiology in college. One of the experiments was to bring in everyday household cleaners and
antiseptics and see what actually kills germs. Then we had a petri dish we put nothing on.

That was the dish we compared all the others to. We breathed on the many dishes. Then put our liquids on them and let them set a few daysto see what developed.

The alcohol one looks like the one we put nothing on. The liquids that did kill germs…

      listerine (mouthwash), mercurochrome andbactine.
