Ingredients
6 tbsp. butter
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 tbsp.powdered sugar
1/2 cup finely chopped nuts
1 cup flour
1 tsp. or less ice water
3/4 cup powdered sugar for coating baked cookies
1 tsp. cinnamon for coating baked cookiesDirections
Preheat oven to 300° F.
In a bowl, cream together butter, powdered sugar and vanilla.
Stir in nuts.
Sift and measure flour. Blend flour into creamed mixture. Add ice water a few drops at a time, using just enough to bind mixture and make a very stiff dough.
Form dough into long rolls about 1/2- to 3/4-inch thick. Wrap in waxed paper. Chill overnight.
Cut into 1/2-inch segments. Place on greased cookie sheet.
Bake at 300° F for 30 minutes.
Remove immediately and roll in powdered sugar and cinnamon coating.
tester’s tip:
chill the dough before forming it into rolls if it’s too sticky.
baking time was closer to 7 to 10 minutes. We flipped the cookies after about 4 minutes so they could brown a little on the other side.
