Chocolate Pecan Chewies Cookie Mix in a Jar

1 cup granulated sugar
1/3 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 cup cocoa powder
1 cup chopped pecans
1-3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda

Mix flour and baking soda together in a small bowl. Set aside.
layer ingredients in order given (ending with the flour mixture) in
a 1 quart wide mouth jar. Press each layer firmly in place before
adding the next ingredient.
Attach the following directions to the jar:

1 jar Chocolate Pecan Chewies Cookie mix in a jar
1 stick butter or margarine, softened
1 egg, slightly beaten
1 tsp. vanilla

Empty jar mix into a large mixing bowl, use your hands to thoroughly
mix.
Add the butter, egg and vanilla. Mix until completely blended–you
will need to finish mixing with your hands. shape into balls the
size of walnuts.

Place 2 inches apart on sprayed (or parchment paper
lined) cookie sheets. Bake at 375 for 11-13 minutes until edges are
lightly browned. Cool 5 minutes on the cookie sheets then remove to
wire racks to cool completely.

Makes 4-5 dozen cookies.
