Cell phone for a 10 yr old???

I think it varies from child to child and household to household. We

got my 13yr dd a pay as you go phone from cingular for christmas. She

had been asking since she was 11 for one. I’m very glad I haven’t

added her to my plan!! I put $15 (the least expensive card you can

get) on her phone twice a month, and she usually goes through it

quickly. I told her when she can make that money last a while we’ll

add her to our plan and she can get a better phone, she has my OLD

phone now.

But, my 10yr ds just got his own phone and is on our plan. We got his

this early because of the school he is going to in the fall. He will

be bussed 35 min. each way every day and is going to a Magnet school

that is in a “bad” part of town. I will feel better if he can get a

hold of me or his dad whenever he would need to. He is very

responsible and hardly uses any minutes at all.

But, now my 7yr ds is begging for one!! LOL Told him sorry, not

happening! He’s my “wild” child and i think it will be a few more

years for him! 🙂
