Calming Signals for Panicked Dogs- When a dog is lost they are extremely scared and are literally running on adrenaline.
when they are in this panicked state, you can’t call out to them, even if you’re the owner of the dog because they can’t respond normally. you cannot wave your arms, talk in a loud voice or come across as threatening in any way, shape or form or the dog will simply bolt again.
they frequently look at otherwise normal things and instead see complete danger & predators. did you know when a dog is in fight or flight response mode their olfactory senses shut down and they literally can’t smell their own owner or even food- it doesn’t register as their family or as safety…believe it! here’s a video that will show you how to calm a panicked dog so you can safely capture him and get him back home…
