KeymasterWith this area I can help! I moved to the city from the country (where my
family still lives). I can tell you how to get meat cheap and help out at
the same time.Contact your local County Extension Service or 4-H office.
Every year kids around the country raise animals to show in the local fairs.
They HAVE to sell these animals to be slaughtered at the end of the shows.
Most counties have a sale of these carcasses (what is the meat after the
animal is slaughtered. If the animal didn’t place well in the show, they do
not get to sell their animal in the “Fair Sale”. So they usually panic and
try to find someone to buy the meat.I know that my last beef cost me $1 per
pound, including processing. I bought the animal and the processor called me
to ask how I wanted it packed (how many pounds of gr. beef per pack ect.)
and what cuts I wanted.Even made me some summer sausage! I just love the
fact that I can sit down to dinner with a T-Bone Steak and know that I only
paid $1 a pound AND helped a child recover some money to buy another animal
next year! This is also a great way to buy lamb, pork ect. They have to sell
them all.
