Well, the last few weeks I’ve still managed to get in my workouts (almost everyday), as well as some walking here and there, particularly since I find myself sitting in front of the computer more than I probably should.
This morning, I just couldn’t bring myself to workout, so I walked 8.2 miles with ankle weights on, instead.
I thought the following chart might be helpful to folks wondering just how many calories they are burning by getting a walk in each day:
Use the chart below to figure your average weight, walking at a speed of 3 miles an hour, you will burn calories at the following rate:
* 130 to 140 pounds – 3.5 calories burned per minute
* 145 to 155 pounds – 4.0 calories burned per minute
* 160 to 170 pounds – 4.5 calories burned per minute
* 175 to185 pounds – 5.0 calories burned per minute
* 190 to 200 pounds – 5.5 calories burned per minute
* 205 to 215 pounds – 6.0 calories burned per minute
So, if you weighed 145 lbs and you walked 30 minutes per day, 5 days a week, you would be burning 120 calories per day or 600 per week. Just by walking an extra 30 minutes a day!
