3/4 lb ground beef ($3.00)
1small onion, chopped ($.45)
1-2 tablespoons flour
2cups very hot water
1 packet beef seasoning from ramen noodle package
Instant mashed potatoes ( a box of store brand runs about $2.00, but you will only need to use enough for 4 people), prepared according to box directions.Brown ground beef, season lightly with salt and pepper. Add the flour, stirring for 30-40 seconds.
Dissolve seasoning packet in 2cups very hot water. Add slowly to pan, stirring constantly.Cook until thickened, about 3-4 minutes.
Serve over prepared mashed potatoes.
You can add frozen peas and carrots to this as well, turning this into an “upside down” shepherds pie, so to speak…Add them once the gravy is thickened, let warm through.
You can serve the gravy over biscuits instead of potatoes.
Enjoy!
