Not married here, but what a wonderful example of being married in a
true “community.” Everyone who contributed was a witness and supporter
of your marriage, and I’m sure that is 10 times more meaningful than
the $65,000 wedding put on by strangers for acquaintances and those
coming for free food.
I’ve seen my sister and brother put on very reasonable weddings
costing well under $5000. Today’s hype has put misplaced emphasis on
the event of that one day as opposed to the months of premarital
counseling and preparation that should be given to the lifetime
commitment. Wish couples would spend the dough on that and reduce
divorces by the 33% as claimed.
