The first time I married I had the “big” wedding with all the bells
and whistles. Lasted 5 years!
The second time around I had a very small, inexpensive wedding. We’ve
been married for 17 years.
We were married in the church that I attend but invited a small
select group of friends and family.
My husband’s brother was his attendant/groomsman. My son and daughter
from my first marriage were mine. They were 10 and 6 then (1991).
Denny wore a borrowed suit and I wore a very pretty royal blue dress
that I bought from a resale shop for $25. I bought Joshua a new suit
and I made Karen’s dress.
My bouquet was borrowed from a friend of my Mom’s that had recently
married and had the same colors.
Our preacher’s wife volunteered to decorate with things she had and
she also sang a song for us.
I made all my other flowers and arrangements myself and I also made
It all turned out very pretty and in the long run meant so much more
to me than all the pomp and circumstance of the first one!
After all, it’s about the love and the memories, not the “stuff!”
Good luck! sharon
