      I like that idea!
With both of my kids going to be in Jr High next year – it will cost me $4 a day if they want to buy their lunch. Usually what happens is that at the beginning of the year, they will bring it – but by the 4th quarter, they are tired of it and want to buy it – at least on certain days. How do you keep your son from carrying all that money at one time? My problem is my son will walk around with $50 in his wallet (gift money and such) and I worry about him losing it or having it taken. He tells me to not worry (My son is also 12) Lois

My reasoning is, he can make his lunch (everything is there for him to do it – he just has to want to do it) and save his lunch money or he can buy his lunch and not save it. It is his choice. He is 12 and in intermediate (or middle or Jr High) school.

If he does make it, he will have $15 a week he can spend on what he wants. If not, oh well. It was the choice he made. It is all about choices and growing up. Plus it is the way my parents did it (prob the major reason) and I thought it would be a good way to get him to save, if he wants
      to.
