bring all items to room temp.
3/4 c sour cream
1/8 c lukewarm water
1 egg
1 1/2 tsp salt
2 Tbl sugar
1/4 tsp baking soda
1 c cheddar cheese grated
about 4 fresh jalapenos seeded and chopped
3 c flour
1 1/2 tsp yeast
use light crust setting.
spicy but not real hot.
we usually add a few more jalapenos or a few haberneros because we like it a little hot, this makes a good coarsely textured sandwich bread, especially good grilled. I use my George Forman to grill it. - December 30, 2008 at 9:28 pm #407458
My son at college makes his own bread in a bread machine. He’s going to love this recipe!

Hope he’ll enjoy it as much as we do.

This sounds delicious! Unfortunately, I don’t have a bread maker. 🙁

I don’t have a bread machine, just the hands that I have.
But could make this without one, just have to reoragized the order of the ingred.

My DH makes this bread & he uses canned jalapenos. We always have them in the pantry. We usually have the bread toasted for breakfast with scramble eggs mixded with salsa.
Yum.

Thanks Margaret, haven’t tried using canned ones but glad to know it works. Hmmm, I have a large jar of hot banana peppers in my fridge, maybe I’ll try it with a new twist.
my breadmachine came through freecycle and it sure is being put to good use. I’ve always been afraid to get one at the thrift store because it could be like my old one, just mix but not get hot enough to rise or bake the bread. Just learned that if you ask most thrift shops will give you 24 hours to test it and allow return if not working properly.
