Here is a great bread machine bread recipe for a
2-pound loaf. It has gone around the internet quite a
bit but found that it worked better for me when I
changed the quantities of the ingredients. I also
make this up except for the yeast/water/sugar mix and
the butter and put the rest of it together in a ziploc
bag and put in the freezer.
When I want a loaf of
bread real quick, I pull out a bag. The water I put
in the bottom of the loaf pan is warmer than the
recipe states because of the flour mixture being
really cold. I have had no problems with it since I
started making up extra bags to put in the freezer.
I’m sure you could make them all in to one, but I like
being able to pull it from the freezer and dump
without measuring anything out.
Here is the recipe:
homemade wonder bread
2 1/2 teaspoons active dry yeast
1/2 cup warm water (110*F)
1 tablespoon white sugar
4 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 cup instant potato flakes
1/4 cup powdered milk
2 teaspoons salt
1/4 cup white sugar
2 tablespoons butter
1 cup warm water (110*F)
Whisk together the yeast, 1/2 cup warm water and 1
tablespoon sugar. Allow to sit for 15 minutes. Add
the rest of the ingredients in the order suggested by
your manufacturer, including the yeast mixture.
Select the basic and light crust setting.
2-pound loaf. Notes: Tastes just like store bought
bread. Great for sandwiches!
