this is cake the way I like it — simple to make and eye-rolling delicious to eat! give it a try on both counts and make it for your sweetie;-)
Bread and Butter Apple Cake:bs_stopspamnlamor:
6 cups peeled sliced apples
1 cup sugar
1 loaf raisin bread
1/2 cup butter
1 1/2 cups strawberry jam
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 cup almonds
Heat oven to 375 degrees F. Spray 12-cup bundt pan with nonstick cooking spray. Lightly flour. spread bread slices with soft butter and 1 tbs jam. Arrange slices in single layer in pan, pressing up sides. In large bowl, combine apples, sugar, spices, and almond slices. Toss to combine, being carful not to break up apple slices. Place one-half of the apple mixture over bread lining. Top with layer of butter and jam bread slices. Add remaining apples. Top with another second layer of butter and jam bread slices (spread sides down). Butter top of bread. Bake 45 minutes. Invert pan onto serving plate. Do not remove bundt pan. After 15 minutes, remove pan. Serve with homemade ice cream or whipped cinnamon cream, if desired. 16 servings = about 300 calories.
