Make Your Own Blueberry Liqueur, This makes a delicious Blueberry Martini or very pretty (& Yummy!) Gift as well!

Liquor or Liqueur, what’s the difference? Spirits, also called liquor, are alcoholic beverages made of plant-based ingredients. In contrast to liquor, which has a strong flavor that is anything but sweet, liqueurs are made by adding various flavored oils, extracts, and flavors to spirits. Rum, whiskey, brandy, and other liquors can be used as base spirits for liqueurs.

      Blueberry Liqueur

      You’ll Need:
3 c Fresh blueberries or blackberries, Rinse berries and lightly crush
      1 whole Clove
      1/2 c Sugar syrup
      2 c Vodka
      1 Lemon wedge, scraped peel

Combine crushed berries, vodka, lemon peel, and clove. Pour into dark bottle and store for 3-4 months. Strain through dampened cheesecloth squeezing out as much juice as possible. Add sugar syrup to taste and store another 4 weeks.

I prefer to use 100-proof vodka when I make this recipe, but it does create more of a “bite” in the finished product and may require the full amount of simple syrup when making a cocktail. I do this to ensure high-quality alcohol that is shelf-stable.

      1/2 cup Bochasweet
      1/2 cup water
      2 c Vodka
      1 Lemon wedge, scraped peel

In a small saucepan combine Bochasweet and water. Bring the mixture to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for 2 minutes over low heat. Remove from heat and cool. Add the remaining ingredients. Pour into dark bottle and store in the back of the fridge for 1-3 months. Strain through dampened cheesecloth squeezing out as much juice as possible.
