ParticipantBasil Buttered Beans
2 cups fresh green beans — cut into 2-inch pieces
2 tbs onion, chopped
2 tbs celery, chopped
1/4 cup water
2 tbs butter, melted
1/2 tsp basil
1/4 tsp salt
1/8 tsp pepper
In a saucepan, combine beans, onion, celery and water. Cover and cook for 5 minutes or until beans are tender. Drain. Add the butter, basil, salt and pepper. stir to coat. Serve immediately. 2 servings = about 105 calories - June 23, 2009 at 10:07 pm #423020
Can hardly wait till the first crop of green beans to come in. This recipe sounds good…

Participantgreat! be sure to watch the time and only cook them the 5 minutes — don’t want them mushy (unless you like them that way and then you can ignore my comment;->) my garden is not doing well as my puppy insists on destroying everything! the only thing she stays away from are the jalapeno and lemon balm!
