      as far as i can tell, all of these apple recipes are not only good to eat, but low cost as well! enjoy!



      all-american apple pie

      crust:
      2 3/4 cups sifted all-purpose flour
      1/2 tsp salt
      1 cup shortening
      1/4 cup butter
      2 to 3 tbsp cold water

      Filling:
      4 tart apples
      1/2 cup brown sugar
      1/4 to 1/2 cup granulated sugar
      1/2 tsp cinnamon
      Dash ground nutmeg
      1/2 cup chopped walnuts
      2 tbsp butter or margarine
      1 egg, beaten, for brushing pie

      For crust, combine flour, shortening, salt and butter
      with pastry blender
      until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

      Gradually stir in water, a little at a time to form a
      dough.

      Divide pastry in half. Form each to a flat round. Wrap
      in waxed paper or
      plastic wrap.

      Chill.

      For filling, peel apples and cut into wedges.

      Combine sugars, cinnamon and nutmeg.

      Roll out half of pastry. Fit into a 9 inch pie pan.

      Place half the apples in pan. Sprinkle with sugar. Top
      with remaining
      apples.
      Sprinkle with walnuts.

      Dot with butter.

      Roll out remaining pastry. Cut into strips to make a
      lattice top.

      Brush dough with beaten egg.

      Bake at 375 to 400 for 40 to 50 minutes until apples
      are soft and dough is
      lightly brown.

      Apple Bars
      1/2 cup butter
      1 cup all-purpose flour
      1 egg
      1 cup white sugar
      1/2 teaspoon baking soda
      1 cup apples – peeled, cored and finely
      diced
      1 cup chopped walnuts
      1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

      Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease
      and flour 8 x 8 inch pan.

      In small sauce pan, melt butter or
      margine over low heat.

      Pour into mixing bowl and combine with
      other ingredients, mixing well.

      Pour batter into pan and bake for
      approximately 40 minutes.

      apple blossom bundt cake

      1 1/2 cups vegetable oil
      1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
      3 eggs
      3 cups all-purpose flour
      1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
      1 teaspoon salt
      1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
      1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
      1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
      1 teaspoon vanilla extract
      3 cups apples, unpeeled and chopped
      1/2 cup walnuts or pecans, chopped

      Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. Use solid vegetable
      shortening to
      generously grease a Bundt baking pan.

      Cream oil and sugar together. Add eggs, one at a time,
      beating well.
      Sift dry ingredients and spices together. Add to sugar
      mixture.

      Add
      vanilla extract, apples and nuts to batter and fold
      all together.
      Bake in prepared Bundt pan for 1 hour and 15 minutes.
      Cool 20
      minutes before removing from pan.

      Serve warm or cool without icing.

      Apple Cinnamon Cake

      1 pkg. 2 layer spice cake mix
      l can (2l oz.) apple pie filling
      3 eggs
      3 tablespoons sugar
      1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
      whipped topping

      Heat oven to 350. Grease (or lightly spray) bottom
      only of a 13 x 9
      inch rectangular pan.

      Beat cake mix (dry), pie filling, and eggs in a large
      bowl on low
      speed for 2 minutes. Spread half of the batter in the
      pan. Mix
      sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle half of the mixture over
      batter in pan.
      Spread remaining batter into pan; sprinkle with
      remaining sugar-
      cinnamon mixture.

      Bake at 350 for 32 to 36 minutes or until toothpick
      inserted in
      center comes out clean; cool. Serve with whipped
      topping.

      Apple Crisp Pizza

      Pastry for Single Pie Crust
      3 T. flour 2/3
      C. sugar
      4 apples, peeled, sliced 1 t.

      cinnamon

      Topping:
      1/2 C. flour 1/3 C. brown sugar
      1/3 C.

      rolled oats 1 t. cinnamon
      1/4 C. soft margarine 1/4 – 1/2 C.

      caramel
      topping

      Roll pastry to fit a 12″ pizza pan. Fold under or
      flute the edges.
      Combine 3 T. flour, 2/3 C.

      sugar, 1 t. cinnamon in a
      bowl. Add
      apples to toss.

      Arrange apples in a single layer in a
      circular
      pattern to completely cover pastry. Combine 1/2 C.
      flour, brown
      sugar, oats, 1 t. cinnamon & margarine; sprinkle over
      apples.

      Bake
      at 350 35-40 minutes until apples are tender. Remove
      from oven and
      immediately drizzle with caramel topping or dip.
      Serve warm with ice
      cream.

      Apple Crumb Cake

      l pkg. yellow cake mix (2 layer)
      l/4 c. butter or margarine
      2 eggs
      l cup sour cream
      l can (2l oz) apple pie filling
      l/3

      Preheat oven to 350. In a mixing bowl, combine cake
      mix, butter and
      l egg until crumbly. Reserve l/2 c.

      Press remaining
      crumb mixture
      into a 8 inch square pan. Blend remaining egg with
      sour cream, spoon
      over crumb mixture. Stir apple pie filling with brown
      sugar and
      cinnamon.

      Spoon over sour cream mixture. Sprinkle
      with the reserved
      l/2 c. crumb mix.

      Bake for 40 minutes or until
      filling is bubbly and
      topping is browned. Cool before serving

      Apple Dessert

      1 package yellow cake mix
      1/3 cup butter or margarine
      1 egg
      21 ounces apple pie filling ** I use my homemade
      apple pie filling
      1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
      1/2 cup chopped walnuts
      1 teaspoon cinnamon
      1 cup sour cream
      1 egg
      1 teaspoon vanilla

      Heat oven to 359 degrees F. In large
      bowl, combine
      cake mix, butter,
      and 1 egg at low speed until crumbly. Press in
      ungreased 13- x 9-inch
      pan; spread with pie filling.

      Combine brown sugar,
      nuts, and
      cinnamon; sprinkle over apples.
      In small bowl, blend sour cream, egg, and vanilla.
      Pour over sugar
      mixture. Bake at 350 degrees F. for 40 to 50 minutes
      or until topping
      is golden.

      Serve warm or cool. Refrigerate any
      leftovers. Yield: 12
      servings.

      1 C sliced apples
      1 tsp baking powder
      Pinch of salt
      1/2 C flour
      1/4 tsp vanilla

      Batter:
      1 yellow cake mix
      2 large eggs
      1/2 t. lemon extract
      1 can apple pie filling (21 oz.)
      Topping:
      1/4 cup butter or margarine, melted
      1/2 cup sugar
      1/2 cup flour
      1/2 t. cinnamon

      Preheat oven to 350. Mix together cake mix, eggs,
      lemon extract, and apple
      pie filling. Pour batter into a greased 9 x 13″ baking
      dish.

      Prepare topping
      with melted butter, sugar, flour and cinnamon. Mix
      with a fork until
      crumbly.
      Sprinkle mixture over top of batter. Bake 42-47
      minutes

      Apple Upside-Down Cake

      2 cups all-purpose flour, sifted
      2 teaspoons baking powder
      1 1/2 cups sugar, brown or granulated white
      1 cup heavy cream
      2 large eggs
      3/4 cup milk
      1/3 cup butter
      1 cup
      brown sugar
      1 teaspoon cinnamon
      3 to 4 cups sliced apples (4 to 5 apples)

      Sift flour with baking powder. Beat eggs with 1 1/2
      cups of sugar
      until light. Stir in the flour mixture, then stir in
      heavy cream.
      Melt 4 tablespoons of butter; stir in cinnamon and
      brown sugar.

      Pour
      butter mixture into a buttered 9- X 13-inch baking
      pan. Place sliced
      apples over butter mixture then gently spread dough
      over apples. Bake
      at 350° for 25 minutes; reduce heat to 325° and bake
      another 20 to 25
      minutes, or until cake is done.

      Cool for at least 5
      minutes; turn out
      onto a serving dish.
      Serve with ice cream or whipped cream.

      3 C. flour
      3/4 C. sugar
      3 tsp.

      baking powder
      1 tsp. salt
      1/2 tsp. cinnamon
      2 C.

      pared, diced apples
      1/2 C. chopped nuts

      3/4 C. milk
      3 T.
      oil

      Preheat oven to 350°F.
      Sift flour, sugar, baking powder, salt & cinnamon in
      large bowl. Stir in
      diced apples and walnuts; mix well. Beat egg slightly
      with mnilk and oil
      in small bowl.

      Pour all at once into flour mixture;
      stir just until
      evenly moist. Pour mixture into loaf pan and bake
      350°F. for 1 hour 10
      minutes or until toopick comes out clean and loaf
      pulls away from sides
      of pan. Remove from pan and cool before slicing.

      3 eggs, beaten
      2 cups sugar
      1/2 cup vegetable oil
      2 tsp vanilla extract
      2 cups flour
      2 tsp baking soda

      4 cups cored, diced, unpeeled apples
      1 cup coarsely chopped walnuts

      Mix on medium speed

      Bake at 325 degrees for 50 minutes, or until cake
      tests done. Cool completely,
      and then frost with Cream Cheese Frosting:

      cream cheese frosting
      combine the following ingredients. whip until smooth.
      spread over cooled cake.
      2 pkgs (3 oz. each) cream cheese, softened
      1/4 cup melted butter (or margarine)
      1 and 1/2 cups confectioners sugar
      1/2 tsp vanilla extract

      Apple Almond Coffee Cake

      1 cup granulated sugar
      1 cup all-purpose flour
      1/4 cup butter or margarine
      1 tsp baking powder
      1 tsp almond extract
      1 egg
      2 tart green apples, peeled, cored,
      and quartered
      1 tsp ground cinnamon

      Topping:
      1/4 cup granulated sugar
      1/4 cup butter
      1 egg 1/2 cup sliced almonds

      In a mixing bowl or food processor fitted with a metal
      blade, combine sugar,
      flour, butter, baking powder, almond extract, and egg.
      Mix ( or process in
      short bursts) until mixture is blended.

      Pat dough evenly into the bottom of a greased 9 by 13
      inch baking pan.

      Thinly slice apples quarters. Arrange, overlapping, in
      attractive,
      lengthwise rows on top of the cake mixture. Sprinkle
      with cinnamon and a
      little sugar.

      Bake at 350 for 25 minutes.

      For topping, in a small pan, melt butter. Remove from
      heat. Add sugar.

      Stir
      quickly to dissolve sugar. Stir in the egg.

      Spoon this mixture over hot apple cake. Sprinkle with
      almonds.

      Continue baking for 25 minutes more until edges begin
      to pull away from
      sides of pan.

      Cut in 2 inch squares. Serve hot or at
      room
      temperature.

      smooth. Add apples and nuts. Mix well.

      Spread into
      pan. Mix 1
      tablespoon sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle over batter.
      Bake for 50-60
      minutes.

      Remove from pan. Cool before slicing.

      Apple Loaf

      2 cups all-purpose flour
      1 teaspoon baking powder
      1/2 teaspoon baking soda
      1/2 teaspoon salt
      1/2 cup chopped walnuts
      1/2 cup butter, softened

      2 eggs
      1 teaspoon vanilla extract
      1 cup apples – peeled,
      cored and shredded

      1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
      Grease one 9×5 inch
      loaf pan.
      2. Mix together flour, baking powder, soda, salt and
      nuts.
      3.

      In a large bowl, beat margarine, sugar and 1 egg
      until smooth. Beat
      in second egg, and stir in vanilla. Stir in shredded
      apples.

      Pour flour
      mixture into batter; stir just until moistened. Spread
      into prepared
      pan.
      4. Bake for 50 to 60 minutes, or until an inserted
      toothpick comes out
      clean.

      Let stand 10 minutes, then remove from pan.

      BONUS:

      Angel Rolls
      A sweet-tasting dinner bread made from yeast dough
      that needs no rising.

      1 (1/4-ounce) package active dry yeast or 2 1/2
      teaspoons
      1/4 cup warm water (105* to 115*F) (40* to 45*C)
      2-1/2 to 3 cups all-purpose flour
      2 tablespoons sugar
      1 teaspoon baking powder
      1/2 teaspoon baking soda
      1 teaspoon salt
      1/2 cup vegetable oil
      1 cup buttermilk
      Preheat oven to 350*F. Dissolve yeast in warm water in
      a bowl.
      Let stand 5 minutes. Combine flour, sugar, baking
      powder, baking soda and
      salt in large bowl.

      Make a well in center of mixture.
      Combine oil,
      buttermilk and yeast mixture. Add to dry ingredients,
      stirring just until
      moistened. (Dough will be
      sticky.)
      Roll dough to 1/2-inch thickness on a lightly floured
      surface.
      Cut with a 2-1/2-inch biscuit cutter.

      Place rolls on
      an
      ungreased baking
      sheet. Bake for 16 minutes or until golden brown.
