as far as i can tell, all of these apple recipes are not only good to eat, but low cost as well! enjoy!
all-american apple piecrust:
2 3/4 cups sifted all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup shortening
1/4 cup butter
2 to 3 tbsp cold water
4 tart apples
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 to 1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 tsp cinnamon
Dash ground nutmeg
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
2 tbsp butter or margarine
1 egg, beaten, for brushing pieFor crust, combine flour, shortening, salt and butter
with pastry blender
until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.Gradually stir in water, a little at a time to form a
dough.

For filling, peel apples and cut into wedges.
Roll out half of pastry. Fit into a 9 inch pie pan.

350°F. for 1 hour 10

1/2 cup vegetable oil

1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup chopped walnuts

A sweet-tasting dinner bread made from yeast dough
that needs no rising.1 (1/4-ounce) package active dry yeast or 2 1/2
teaspoons
1/4 cup warm water (105* to 115*F) (40* to 45*C)
2-1/2 to 3 cups all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 cup buttermilk
Preheat oven to 350*F. Dissolve yeast in warm water in
a bowl.
Let stand 5 minutes. Combine flour, sugar, baking
powder, baking soda and
salt in large bowl.Make a well in center of mixture.
Combine oil,
buttermilk and yeast mixture. Add to dry ingredients,
stirring just until
moistened. (Dough will be
sticky.)
Roll dough to 1/2-inch thickness on a lightly floured
surface.
Cut with a 2-1/2-inch biscuit cutter.
