4 T. shortening
1 1/2 C. sugar
3 t. baking powder
1 t. salt
2 t. cinnamon
3/4 C. milk
Cream shortening and sugar together. Add eggs one at a time beating well after each egg. Add baking powder, salt, nutmeg and cinnamon and mix well.
Mix in the milk and applesauce. Add flour 1 cup at a time mixing well after each cup
Drop by ½ teaspoonfuls in 350-375° (High) canola or vegetable oil until golden brown, Drain on paper towels, with paper sacks underneath, then, roll in a mixture of cinnamon and sugar. Or pour into a donut pan and bake them.
For best flavor, use new oil
These make great snacks- you can create apple monsters… cut a wedge out for the mouth, use a couple almond slices for the teeth, use a shish-kebab stick to skewer a marshmallow inside and apple donut to make the eyes!

This sounds good! I can’t really view the recipe, but I’m going to research this and see if I can find a way to make it gluten free. Thanks for the inspiration!
