July 26, 2008 at 1:25 pm #260626GuestI have a three-ring notebook with tabs in it. I saw that someone mentioned the numbered tabs but I use the ones that you can write on.My categories are….Family Info – a page on each member of the family that lists current medications (my husband has heart problems and I need this a lot); doctor information; medical history and such. In the case of my daughter, there are notes in there about when she needs to go back for immunization boosters, copies of her medical forms to play soccer, etc.Pet information – name, address and phone number of the vet, shot records, when they were spayed/neutered, what kind of flea medication they use, etc.Phone numbers – that’s divided into two sub categories. One isfor friends and family. I have the name, address, phone number, email address and any other important info about our friends (kids names, ages and birthdates, anniversary, etc). The other sub category is business. I have anyone we regularly do business with here – the bank, the credit union where we have our auto loan, our mortgage company, our credit card, insurance…. I have the name, address, phone number, fax number, who our contact person is and the account number. If we had some sort of emergency where we had to leave the house quickly, I feel better knowing I could just grab this and have everything I need at my fingertips.Home & Auto – contains our home maintenance records, paint colors for each room, purchase information for the major appliances (I keep the manuals stored in a separate three-ring binder). The auto section is pretty much the same – maintenance records and such. I also have a “wish section” for my house and my car – just things I’d like to buy “someday.” I tear out pictures from magazines, write down internet addresses, price and whatever else I think I might need.Inventory – I have an over-all home inventory; an inventory of books, DVDs, CDs and computer programs. It was a pain getting it together, but it’s super easy to update now. And, if I ever have a claim with my homeowner insurance, it’s all right there.Food & Shopping – grocery list, my menu plan for the next two weeks, favorite recipes, pantry & freezer inventory. I started a price book in there, too, but with the way prices are going crazy, I couldn’t keep up.Cleaning & Chores– my daily and monthly chore chartsGoals & Planning – This is where I keep track of all our “hopes and dreams.” Right now, we’re saving for a vacation to DisneyLand – I have all the planning for that in this section. Hubby and I also wrote a “bucket list” of sorts. We check it periodically and try to do those things.Hope that helps you get started. Let me know if you have any questions!Chrissey
