Pavers are pretty cheap as far as stepping stones go. Get some plain jane looking pavers and make your own stencil (whatever design you like, you can search the web for some patterns), like vines or victorian style, etc.
Then use some outdoor paint (like Krylon brand), make sure all the sand or dirt is off the stone and it’s clean and dry.
Place the stencil on the stone (tape it into place with masking tape) and spray paint it. Remove the stencil carefully so you don’t smudge the stone.
Let it dry completely, repeat with remaining pavers. I saved this project from the Krylon paint website a few years back.
Use the same colors and stencils on fencingl garden pots or outside edges of a patio to create a complimentary theme throughout the garden and yard.
