omg so I came across this video this morning on how to make a basket weave cake and it’s so easy!!
Amazing Chocolate Basket Cake
you will need:
2 pkg of semi-sweet chocolate chips
4 Tbs Solid Vegetable Shortening
a CakeIn the video they use pastry chocolate, I don’t know where they buy that but when I use chocolate for molds, I just add Crisco (or solid vegetable shortening).
Combine the chocolate and the shortening in a bowl and put in the microwave on medium heat for 1 minute, remove stir well. Repeat until chocolate is melted, don’t overheat the chocolate or use full heat or it will separate.
Once it’s fully melted, spread it evenly over a piece of bubble wrap that fits around your cake. Be sure you lay the smooth side of the bubble wrap down and spread the chocolate over the bubbles. let it sit 10 minutes at room temp. Then apply the chocolate bubble wrap to the cake.
Smooth it out gently to ensure it adhered well, then place the entire thing in the fridge for 10 minutes. After the 10 minutes is up, remove the bubble wrap from the chocolate very gently. Add cut berries to the top before serving.
