The upright is easier to find things in, but the chest freezer holds

more and is cheaper to run. So it is your decision… cheaper or

easier… Plus if the door is accidentally left open in the chest, you

loose less food (since cold air sinks and hot air rises). The upright

costs more for that same reason… every time you open the door, the

cold air ‘falls’ out, and it has to cool off again.

Whatever you decide to get, do not get a frost free model. With frost

free, the freezer is constantly defrosting & freezing – so it shortens

the life of frozen foods. The other kind (non-frost free), you must

defrost it, but it keeps the food colder & at a constant temp – so the

      food does last longer.
