I was a dental asst for 20 yrs. Orijel and the like work best if
placed in the tooth, not on the gum, and are only a temp fix. Cloves
have the active ingredient of those items also. The only true fix is
either a root canal (which is very exp.) or extraction which generally
runs $100 or so. You may have to be seen first for a diagnosis and an
xray which will prob. be about $75. Check your area for a free
clinic. You can try to alternate ibuprofen (Motrin)800mg and
acetimenophen (Tylenol. This way you are taking something about every
2-3 hrs.
