You are playing with your life. Amoxicillan may or may not cover the spectrum of bacteria that can infect a tooth. it might work and it might not.

in the case that it doesn’t…. you can be in even more trouble.

A dentist knows what to give. When I was on the antibiotics less than two weeks ago, I was given 500 mg of Penicillin VK and then another wide spectrum antibiotic drug to boot, of 500mg to be taken together.

Besides this I was given a thing to (and I have to continue to do this to keep the infection down or out until they pull this tooth) shoot antibiotics down beside the tooth into the area where the infection was. I was told by the dentist that it is absolutely critical that I take the antibiotics religiously.

You can’t (shouldn’t)self treat teeth without a lot of danger if an abscess is present. There is much danger in an abscessed tooth and the infection going to the rest of the body…
You have no clue as to the type of bugs infect the tooth.

You don’t know if amoxicillin will begin to fight the infection, and if the infection abates, it can come back worse if not gone, because it can get immune to the amoxicillin,or just knocked down by the amoxicillin and you will then have a super bug….in that tooth.

There is a time and place to go to a doctor, dentist and lawyer. This is the time to goto a dentist. You might call the emergency room in the hospital and ask them if they would treat you also, but you need to be getting medical attention. dash

i totally forgot. i bought a fish antibiotic to have on hand for my tanks. it’s amoxicillan 250 miligrams. Adults usually get 500 miligrams. There is no difference at all for them vs getting it from a pharmacy.

2 (500mg) pills really would be prescribed 2 or 3 times per day depending on how bad the infection is.
