I have 4 USB ports and they all work fine for any other hardware. I have even had the guy who built the computer look at it and cannot figure it out. Each printer will work on occassion and then out of the blue, an error screen.
I have finally decided that we wouldnt use a printer enough at home to make it worth it.

ok, you have it plugged into either the wrong usb port, or that one
is having issues.
try plugging it into a different usb port.
