Hi, I'm getting married next year and I would like some help with the
favors I don't want to give out favors that won't be useful when my
guests get them home.

I hate the expensive junk. I never know what to do with it; it never fits
in. My fave favors are homemade magnets, seeds, mini plants, bookmarks, or
tree ornaments (the last only if you know all your guests are
Christian). You can make these cheaply, add cute or meaningful quotes, and
everyone can enjoy them.

We gave out packets of Marigold Seeds. I bought them in
bulk and the repackaged them into small envelopes then
printed some stickers on the laser at work :

Please plant these marigold seeds in your garden to help
keep pests away.
Something like that, can't remember the exact words.
I did 250 for under $20.
Hope this helps

Hmm--we didn't give out any favors. I guess because I've trashed everything
I've brought home from weddings--mostly candles.
I would think something edible would be the best choice--fancy candies or
cookies or chocolates. There are lots of people on Flylady like me who
don't want any little useless "pretties" sitting around, lol. And
definitely nothing with your name and wedding date on it that they would
feel compelled to save and create clutter with.
Hope this doesn't sound too harshI am just very anti-trinket
But if
it's something I can use up and enjoy for a brief moment, that's okay.

Thanks--I'm a flybaby too and that's sort of the message I was trying
to get acrossI'd rather have a really good piece of chocolate
personally. I still have a rose bud thing that was made out of hershey
kisses and cellophane that was from my ex-boyfriend's brother's wedding
back in 1995. Why am I keeping that?!?

What about matchbooks with your names & dates on them? They can use the
matches. Get the ones that come in a box, rather then the regular kind. Just
to be different.

See, if it wasn't done up so "pretty", you could have had yourself a tiny
little chocolate fix a few years ago and cleared that baby out of your
house!!Might not taste so good now, and now it is officially "clutter"

That is true and honestly, I may have thrown it away during a fling,
but can't remember. In my defense, I did only save 2 or 3 of the candy
bars from my own wedding. I may put them in a shadow box or something.

I used hershey nuggets candy bars and bought candy bar wraps off ebay that were
personalized. I forget the exact amount I paid but I think for 150 guests my
favors may have cost $50.00 and I had some extra.

I gave out little white material picture frames (they held the table seating
numbers at the reception). They were inexpensive - see Michaels, hobby lobby or
any wedding catalog/magazine - and lots of people I know still have them
displaying some wallet size picture or another in their homes. I got a whole
lot of compliments on the gift and it feels nice to still see them displayed
some 10+ years later when I go to visit. Not to mention, the dual function of
seating card and gift, which saved me some money.
