DTE Energy Customer Assistance Day to Help Customers in Need

DTE Energy is hosting a Customer Assistance Day to help customers who are struggling to pay their utility bills. The event will offer participants a range of assistance, including help with applications for State Emergency Relief funds. They'll also have the opportunity to meet with representatives from numerous human services agencies, sign up for home weatherization assistance and learn no-cost and low-cost ways to lower their energy bills.

The event will be the "grand finale" to the "Weekend of Giving," which kicks off Friday, Dec.10 with The Heat and Warmth Fund's annual Night of Warm Hearts, followed by the Hallelujah for Heat gospel concert Saturday, Dec.11. The proceeds from these two events will be credited to qualified low-income customers at the Customer Assistance Day.

Monday, Dec. 13, 2010, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Michigan Hall, Lower Level
1 Washington Blvd
Detroit, MI

More than 350 DTE Energy employees will be at COBO Hall to work one-on-one with customers who are having difficulties with their utility bills. Joining DTE Energy will be numerous social service agencies and nonprofit organizations that can provide additional help, including THAW, the Department of Human Services and the Salvation Army.

DTE Energy recognizes that many of our customers are struggling to pay their utility bills and is committed to helping them maintain their electric and gas service. We're reaching out to customers in need now, at the start of the heating season, so we can help them get assistance before they get further behind in their bills. This event is part of our on-going efforts to help customers in need find assistance at one convenient location.
