Exclamation How to get rid of Fruit flies and Gnats

I have been having a problem with flies in the house that look like fruit flies or May flies. It began in September. I read somewhere that using cider vinegar (brown) worked - so I put about 1/4 cup, in a plastic container with 1 Tablespoon of sugar and a little dish soap (1-2 drops). I didnt even mix it then I put a lid or plastic wrap over the top and poked a small hole. It actually worked!!!

Where in the heck do these critters come from? Yall got any additional ideas??

    Thanks!!

    Lynn
