Not sure if this is in the right spot but I am SO MAD!

I am getting so sick of people being just flat mean because I coupon or because I bought something at a thrift store. My gosh why the heck does it even matter to them where and how I consume?

I was curious if you all ever have rude remarks or looks made when you hand a cashier a bunch of coupons. Either it's the cashier being sarcastic or mad because I have so many or it's the person behind me in the line being very rude because they're having to wait. It just amazes me how tacky people can be.

I even had a cashier pretty much imply that if I didn't have the money then I shouldn't be shopping. She was mad that I had around 30 coupons. I mean my goodness, in my retail working days we would be THRILLED if someone came in and spent 200 dollars at our store. I just stood there dumbfounded that this woman thinks that the only people who use coupons are the ones that don't have any money....lol Not only that but there was a couple behind me agreeing with the cashier and the wife was just looking at me with disgust.

It honestly hurt my feelings more than it made me mad
I wish people could respect the fact that I CHOOSE to use coupons. I get really tired of being made fun of by strangers and friends/family. I sometimes wonder if my friends/family are just jealous. I went into Albertson's grocery, my bill totaled 182 dollars, after coupons it came to 60 bucks.....tell me please, what is so lame about that

There is nothing lame with you using coupons. People are ignorant to the use of coupons, I mean that in a way that they don't know any better. I thought that's why there were coupons, so they could be used. Sometimes people need to be reminded of that fact.

On time I had done some shopping at Wal Mart, and I did have a cart full, and my coupons. When I got up to the cashier, she rolled her eyes at me. So I looked at her and said "Is something wrong?", " I thought that your light was on because your lane was open." She had nothing to say to me. When she was done and I paid my bill, I said to her, "Thank you so much for everything, now you have a nice rest of the day." I always ingore the people behind me, because I'm not there for them. And as for the cashier, nice always kills them. When your super nice, they can't really get mad now can they? They'll get over it, it gives them something to talk about for the day. I look at it this way, glad I could be the one that gave them something to talk about.

lol! I'm more passive really, like when that cashier implied that I'm poor I was burning with anger but I'm such a pansy I couldn't do anything about it. Ignorance infuriates me, and the sad thing is, people are becoming more and more that way. Or maybe it's the area I live in. My friend & I were discussing this yesterday, how when we both lived in different areas people weren't flat out rude and mean as they are here.

She went to the laundry mat, someone wanted to share her table, or so she though, to fold their clothes on. She said "I'm sorry let me move my stuff so you can put your down" and smiled politely. She turned around to get her stuff out of the dryer and here's things falling to the floor. This girl literally had taken her arm and cleared off my friend clothes, laundry basket, detergent onto the floor and stood there with this smirk on her face. The girls mother of course did nothing. My friend said she just gathered her stuff quickly and left as fast as she could.

I was coming home from work Friday and got called a 'stupid *itch' amongst other obscenities because I stopped, with my turn signal on, to turn into my driveway. The lady was mad because she had to brake and wait for me to turn. Mind you I had to wait for traffic to clear before I myself could turn. It just amazes me.

I've thought very seriously about moving out to East Texas, population 500 in my favorite town. Maybe I'm just too soft hearted for the city? Maybe people were always this cruel and it's not something new?

Anyway, I'm wayyyy off the subject of couponing. Sorry for the vent.

I also have noticed a change of attitute at a store where I have shopped for over 10 years. Since I now shop several stores to get the best deals and no longer spend 75 to 100 a week in their store and shop mostly with coupons (in the past 6 months) I now find that instead of being treated friendly I am treated with icy politeness by several of the cashiers and the assistant manager. No one has been rude, but I no longer feel like a valued customer.

Just have to remind myself that I'm getting good deals, that I'm there to shop not to socialize and let them think what they want to. I enjoy the money I'm saving my family and that's what counts.

Penny, you made my day. You express yourself beautifully and I understand your anger. I'll bet Albertson's has a website with email. I'd be sending an email voicing your digust. (I have done it several times with different stores or resturants) I too am usually stun over the rudeness these days. I think what we are seeing are people who aren't used to struggling trying to get by. That cashier may never had to work until recently and hasn't gotten over looking down at people for what she believes is stupid. The country is in turmoil and so are many of the people. We all learned how to get by early on, so we still have grace. lol. Coupon away sister and smile at them.

Wow, I can't believe that this kind of attitude toward coupon users exist. Maybe I am not seeing it since I choose to live in a happy bubble but I am always excited when i use coupons since for me it's like a game. When I get to the checkout stand I say to the cashier, "It's time for the Ralph's limbo, how low can my price go!" and they get kinda excited too, I guess it's a part of their customer service. I don't even shop at Albertson's anymore since they don't do double coupons. I have never had anyone give attitude, not even the customers behind me since they are also interested to see how much money I save and ask about hints and tips. The store knows that thye are going to get money from coupon users one way or another, people that have coupons spends more since they save more and the store gets compensated for the coupon price anyway. Those rude people need to go back to sensitivity training.

lokilove, I agree with you I haven't had any problems with using coupons and have even had several people comment how it pays to go on the internet to find a bargain. I always start my shopping by asking the cashier if she/he wants the coupons with the item at the beginning of the shopping or at the end. The only time they have ever gotten a little flustered is when an item is free and they have to hunt on the receipt to find out the price to give me the coupon for. Guess I am fortunate to have friendly folks who don't mind saving a penny or two

    Thank you Darcel!
I think that sensitivity training should be ordered by police. Like they need to have courtesy officers and if you're a tart you get sentenced to a week in the 'learn to have manners' class. LOL!! Sorry, I'm weirdo.
