    Default Question About Food Pantries

    Hi,

I normally don't post much. But I need some help. I make too much to
qualify for Goverment/State assistance. Rent is due on the 5th of the
month and I will not have enough money for food to feed my daughter
and myself. I'm wondering if the food pantry like the Salvation Army
has income limits. Please advice if you can.

It can't hurt to ask for help. Also, try calling the pregnancy centers in your area. If they can't help you directly, they will be able to tell you where to go so you and your daughter are not without food.

After you get some immediate assistance, stock up on things you can eat, even if it is just PB & J and Ramen Noodles, rice, dry beans, soup, mac & cheese. It is not fancy, but you will not go hungry either.

We have a baby not even a year old yet and we were told that we "make too much money" to qualify for assistance from the government. When I contacted the pregnancy centers, I told them about our baby and they helped out.

Several churches in my area have food pantrys and I believe its done on a no questions asked policy. Call local Catholic churches and ask about St. Vincent DePaul societies. Good luck to you.

Start calling churches to see if they offer the Angel Food Network, there are several in my area that do, or they may be able to tell you where to go. Not sure where you live, but we also have Helping Hands that help with food.

    Jessica,

I went to the following website and you can find host sites for Angel
Food Ministries by state. Hope this helps. I have used it in the past
and you do get a lot of food for $25 and you can buy more than one of
the packages. Then they have other "specials" that you can buy along
with the special. The site also has the current menu listed I believe.
    Good luck to you!!

I was just looking at the website for Angel Food Network and looks like a viable option for my family to use right now to get back on our feet. I was wondering if anyone has used them in the past or present? If so what were your pro and cons with it? TIA !

    Hi,
I have used them before. The only thing that I didn't
like was that the dessert was bad. Was never able to
keep the pies that we got. Besides that, It was that
bad. It's not the best cuts of meat but it still
    worked.
Just to let everyone know, my son used to help at
Angel food. He worked nights loading the boxes that
were getting shipped out for the areas. He worked 3
nights ( Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday ) one week a
month. He got paid a nice check for those days. So if
anyone needs some money coming in check with them.
    They always need help.
