Doh I Bought the Wrong Flour!

I my half-out-of-it mind, I bought the wrong flour. Of course, I realized right after I had dumped the bag into my container.

I meant to buy Bread Flour, instead I bought All-Purpose.

It has 4g of protein. I was planning on using this in my bread machine, but now I don't know if it will work. And I don't have the cash to buy more until next Thursday.

Has anyone used all-purpose in a bread machine? Do I need to add something? Any help towards fixing my mistake would be greatly appreciated.

    Shannon

lots of my breadmachine recipes call for all purpose flour, I would just go ahead and use it. The texture of your bread may be a little different but it will still be good I'm sure.

The all purpose will still work in your bread machine, might want to look on the side of the package-sometimes they have a recipe for machines as well. I don't think their is much difference in the recipes if any.
    Good luck.

When I had a bread machine I used all purpose flour, and it worked fine. Don't waste it, go ahead and use it.

I used to use all purpose flour all the time. If you're worried about it, just add a bit of gluten (& vit c) to it, thats the only difference. I only buy All purpose flour and keep a box of Gluten in the fridge (usually on the shelf beside the baking soda). Add 1 tsp gluten per cup of flour.

Thanks everyone. I think that I'll check out the gluten, as I now have 4 5lb bags of flour and could use a way to go through all of them.

if it's a good quality all-purpose flour it should work just as well as your bread flour! Just charge on in and make a batch and you'll know right off the bat!
