    Default "Free" Green Onions/Scallions

    I read this somewhere.

If you cut the root part off of a green onion and plant it in some soil it will root and start sending up green onion shoots. By planting the ends of a bunch of green onions you bought you will be able to grow your own green onions. All you need to do is to snip them as you need them. =D>

one can do with with blub onions as well. Likeiwse, you can let that onion go to seed, but just don't expect the seeds to produce true again unless the onion was not a hybrid and was organic.

Thumbs up Re: "Free" Green Onions/Scallions

I don't think that I'd want to try it with bulb onions. I am always running out of green onions, though.
