    Default Banana Nut Bread

    1/2 cup Crisco shortening
    1 cup sugar
    2 cups all-purpose flour
    1 tsp salt
    2 tsp baking powder
    1/2 tsp baking soda
    2 eggs, beaten
    3 bananas, mashed
    1/3 cup butter milk

    1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cream shortening and sugar. Sift together flour, salt, baking powder & baking soda & add to creamed mix. Add remaining ingredients. Mix well. Pour into a well-greased loaf pan. Bake for 40-45 min.

    Another good recipe for this time of the year. Are you in my kicthen in my recipe file ? loll. This is one my Mother used to have us make for the lunch boxes. It held up very well in the the wax paper wrap, then toted in the brown paper bags.

    Yeh, this is one of my favorites! And I love anything that makes the house smell so fragrant when it bakes!!!

    I love banana bread-i will hide a couple bananas from the kids then stick them in the freezer to use later for making bread or muffins.

    Banana Nut Muffins are good warm w/ a little butter on them too.. Excellent in the evening for a snack or dessert w/dinner.
