Default Does anyone know of a homemade version of "baby alive" food?

I recently bought my daughter a Hasbro Baby Alive Doll. We have already gone through the powered packets the doll came with. We went to the store to buy some more and they were pretty expensive. I heard that regular food/baby food will mold in the doll. Any suggestions?? Thanks!!

I did some research yesterday and what I read is the baby alive food is made from somekind of plastic that won't stick or rot. (see sources link) I am not sure it it going to be possible to replicate it.

      Default Thank you!!

Thank you for finding this out!! I did not know it was a plastic base. It makes sense. Although, it's kind of twisted in the same sense: These dolls are made of plastic and they eat plastic for food. Isn't this called cannablism? Ha! Ha! Maybe I will sacrafice an old barbie so Baby alive can have some food!!

[smilie=to funny.gif] barbie in a blender, I can see the recipe now...

      2 barbie legs,
      1 barbie arm
front wheel of barbies car (for flavor)

Combine all in a blender until fine., feed baby until she burbs.

Hahahaha, that's too funny. If I come across anything that will work, I'll let you know.

The manufacturer says that the food is non toxic and will not harm your child and though not recommended to be eaten by humans is made of food grade ingredients. No plastic in the food.

Some information says it is made of Sorbitol; which is a sugar substitute used in sugarless gum and other stuff. Use about 1 Tablespoon Sorbitol with 2 to 4 drops of food coloring and the amount of water needed to get it to the consistency that you want. Or, you could use 3 Tablespoons of Baking Soda, 2 or 3 drops of food coloring and water. Don't forget to give your doll water to drink after every couple of bites and lots of water after eating, so that everything comes out.

For the juice just add a drop of food coloring to the bottle and fill it up with water. Shake well and let the doll drink.

You will run out of diapers pretty quickly. Just a tip: Preemie (real baby) diapers will fit and work just fine. You could potty train the doll; set it on a small bucket.

      Hope this helps. Thanks;Virginia
