Clean baby food jar
Cottonball
Bright red material
Glue
Wire
Sugar
Water

Clean the jar and remove label. Punch a small hole in the center of the lid
and file away any sharp edges. Cut the material into 5 or 6 petal shapes
with on end blunted. Fill the jar with a solution of one part sugar
dissolved in nine parts of water. DO NOT use any other kind of sweetener or
any coloring. Stretch out the cotton ball and stuff it into the hole in the
lid, leaving some hanging out both above and below the hole. Glue the petals
to the outside of the lid, blunt ends on the jar. The petals lure the
butterflies with the bright color and give them a place to land. Screw the

lid onto the jar. Use the wire to fashion a holder for the jar hanging it
upside down, so the liquid will drip down through the cotton. Hang outside
where you can enjoy watching the butterflies feed.
