Nearly Hamburger Helper Mix

* 2 c. powdered dry milk
* 1 c. cornstarch
* 1/4 c. beef bouillon
* 2 Tbsp. onion flakes
* 1 tsp dried basil
* 1 tsp dried thyme
* 1 tsp black pepper
* 2 Tbsp dried parsley
* 1 Tbsp garlic powder

Mix the ingredients together and store in an airtight container.

Use for the following recipes:

Beef Potato Casserole

* 1 lbs ground beef, brown & drain
* 3/4 c. water
* 6 potatoes, peeled & sliced thinly
* 1 c. frozen mixed vegetables
* 1/2 c. Nearly hamburger helper mix

Combine all ingredients cover and simmer until potatoes are tender,
about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove cover and simmer
until excess liquid has evaporated.

Beef Stroganoff

* 1 lbs ground beef, browned & drained
* 2 c. water
* 1/2 c. nearly hamburger helper mix
* 2 c. uncooked egg noodles
* 1/2 c. sour cream
* 1 jar mushrooms, optional

Combine all ingredients except the sour cream pan. Cover & simmer 20
minutes or until noodles are tender. Stir in sour cream, heat and serve.

Chili Mac

* 1 lbs ground beef, browned & drained
* 1 c. water
* 1/2 c. uncooked macaroni
* 2 cans diced tomatoes
* 1 Tbsp chili powder
* 1/2 c. Nearly hamburger helper mix

Combine all ingredients and simmer 20 minutes or until noodles are
cooked to your liking.

Cheeseburger Macaroni

* 1 lbs ground beef, browned & drained
* 2 1/2 c. water
* 1/2 c. nearly hamburger helper mix
* 3/4 c. elbow macaroni, uncooked
* 3/4 c. cheese powder
* 1/2 c. cheddar cheese shredded

Combine all ingredients except the shredded cheese and simmer 25
minutes or until macaroni is tender and sauce has thickened. Top
with shredded cheese just before serving.

Easy Lasagna

* 1 lbs ground beef, browned & drained
* 1 onion, chopped
* 1/2 c. nearly hamburger helper mix
* 2 c. water
* 16 oz tomato sauce
* 3 c. lasagna noodles, uncooked & broken
* 1/4 c. parmesan cheese
* 2 c. mozzarella cheese shredded

Combine all ingredients except mozzarella cheese in large skillet.
Simmer for 15 minutes or until noodles are tender. Top with
mozzarella cheese. Cover and remove from heat. Serve when cheese is
melted.


If you follow these recipes exactly the mix will yield 8 meals. When I
make these I add about 1 extra cup of water and only use 1/4 c. of the
mix plus just use a couple handfuls of noodles to my liking and so I can
get 16 meals from the mix and I don't have to fight with it at all. I
would say that you should be prepared to make some adjustments. If you
like salty meals you will have to add salt because the only salt is
basically what is in noodles.
