Basic Sugar Cookie Dough to make Triangle Cookies

1/2 Cup butter, softened 1 large egg
1/2 Cup sugar 2 cups flour
1 1/2 tsp vanilla 1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt

Beat butter, sugar, vanilla in large bowl at medium
speed until light & fluffy; beat in egg.

Beat flour, baking powder & salt into butter mixture
at low speed. Refrigerate in plasti 1 hour.

Heat oven to 375 degrees. Work with 1/4 of dough at a

Roll out 1/8 or 1/4" between two sheets of wax peper.
Cut out or shape as desired.

Place on a greased cookie sheet. Bake 5 - 13 minutes.

Follow basic recipes for variations below:

Cherry Thumbprints: Shape into balls 2 tablespoons
each. Roll balls in ground almonds with tumb make
indentation in each & fill with 1/2 tsp cherry
preserves Bake 10 Minutes. This is the original
recipe I made & they didn't turn out right. All the

other thumbprint recipes I have read since that say to
put the jelly in after they bake you put a indent in
the cookie after they are baked then add the jelly.

It's just as well they didn't turn out because I would
have never made the other ones.

Here it is!!!!: Roll out dough 1/8" thick between
wax paper cut into squares Spoon t teaspoon jelly in
middle fold over like a turnover.
Bake 12 minutes sprinkle with confectionary sugar.
