Gummy, Chewy, Chocolate-y Fudge Brownies

8x8 pan
1/4 c +1T solid shortening (I used Original Crisco)
? C Cocoa (I used good ole Hershey's)
1 1/2 c sugar
2 eggs
1/2 c unsifted flour
1 ? tsp vanilla
? tsp salt

2/3 c chopped pecans (optional, I didn't use `em)
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Grease a 8 inch square pan.

1) Melt solid shortening in cereal bowl in microwave.
2) Add Cocoa to melted shortening.
3) Into mixing bowl put sugar, eggs. Beat on low until well
blended.
4) Blend in Cocoa/Shortening mix. Blend well.
5) Stir in flour, salt and vanilla. Blend well.
6) Stir in nuts. Blend well.
7) Pour into 8x8 baking pan.
8) Bake 30 minutes.
9) Test with knife. Cool to room temperature in pan on rack or other
heat safe surface. Cut into squares.

The best texture happens when you leave them wrapped in a tea towel
in the cupboard for 24hrs.
