Default question about cooking w a crockpot

I have a pot roast rec that says to cook it on low for 9-10 hours
Can I cook it in the crockpot on high since I did not get the roast
in till lunch time and how long would I cook it on high?

    Hi Christeen,

Normally with crockpot recipes you cut the time in half on high setting. So for
your pot roast that would be 4 1/2 to 5 hours on high. HTH

Halve the amount of time - if you use high - I think. I always use low & let
it cook 10 hours or so.

You basically halve the time (remaining) when cooking on high.

You can go from low to high (some recipes require this) during the
cook but then you halve the REMAINING time.

Say you need it done in about 6 hours: Go 3 on low, then 3 - 3.5 on
high. You can have it ready anytime after the mid-way point by
"switching to high" at the right time.
