Oh wow.. I had forgot about pepper steak. My mom used to make it. I forgot about it till I saw it in your menu. I will have to make it next menu. Thank you so much for putting it on your menu.

    Thank you svidal!
Pepper steak is one of my Hub's favorites!!
I usually use deer tenderloin for it...and of course bell peppers and onions.
If you don't mind sharing, I'd love to see your recipe for it!!!!

1 lb round steak sliced thin ( put in freezer for a little while to firm up for easier slicing)
    1/4 cup soy sauce
    1 clove garlic minced
    1/2 tsp ground ginger
    1 onion sliced thin
    2 bell peppers sliced thick
    2 stalks celery sliced
    1 Tbsp cornstarch
    1 cup water
    1 can water chestnuts drained
1 can tiny corn cobs drained
Marinate beef in soy sauce, garlic and ginger then toss in a frying pan that has been heating with a little oil. Once browned cover and simmer till tinder. Increase heat to med high add veggies cook till they start to tinder about 5-10 minutes. Mix cornstarch and water add to pan and stir till sauce thickens.

I have never had it with deer but I bet it is awesome. We are out of deer right now. Hopefully hubby gets one this year so that we can try it. We will have to do it with beef this week. We just slaughtered last month so we have plenty of fresh beef. Is this along the same line as your recipe? Mom always served over white medium grain rice. Medium grain is my favorite because I find it absorbes sauces and gravies the best. I find medium grain hard to find anywhere else we go. When we travel to wherever my husband works I always have to bring my own.

Love these menus! They help a lot. I cook for 4 everyday from scratch. My dh and disabled bro and sis, it helps me so much to get ideas. Thanks!

svidal-That's very close to my pepper steak "recipe". It's really more of a formula actually. lol I've never written my pepper steak 'recipe' down. It just happens when I have it. ::giggles::
Think I'll make that a 'project' too. Next time I have this for Hubby, I'm gonna measure everything and make an official recipe. Thank you so much for sharing yours!! Sounds delicious!

Wrinkleyold-Thank you for the kind words! I get ideas and inspiration from others also...I just seem to run out of ideas at times...
I cook most of my food items from scratch also, so I -can- relate...

I think the meal ideas are wonderful. I get in a rut cooking the same thing all the time. Then I read someone's menu and it reminds me of something I haven't had in forever (pepper steak) and all of a sudden I get something exciting for my next menu.
