    Default Cereal and Milk Bars

    Here are some recipes I have in my files ---> They're more granola bars than
    anything but you might be able to work with them for your children and come
    up with something workable:

    BLUEBERRY GRANOLA BARS
    1/2 cup honey
    1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
    3 tablespoons vegetable oil
    1 -1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
    1 -1/2 cups quick-cooking oats
    2 cups fresh blueberries

    Preheat oven to 350 F. Lightly grease a 9X9-inch square baking pan. In a
    medium-size saucepan, combine honey, brown sugar, oil, and cinnamon, and
    bring to a boil. Continue boiling for 2 minutes; do not stir. In a large
    mixing bowl, combine oats and blueberries. Stir in honey mixture until
    thoroughly blended. Spread onto the prepared baking pan, gently pressing
    mixture flat. Bake until lightly browned, about 40 minutes. Cool completely
    in the pan on a wire rack. Cut into 1 -1/2 by 3 inch bars.

    Yield: 18 bars

    CHEWY GRANOLA BARS
    11/2 cups bisquick mix
    11/2 cups quick cooking oats
    1 cup brown sugar
    1/2 cup softened butter or marg.
    1 egg
    1/3 cup chocolate chips

    Mix all ingredients with fork until moistened. Add chocolate chips. Mixture
    will be crumbly. Press mixture into ungreased 13x9 pan. Bake in preheated
    350 oven 15-17 min. or until center is set. Cut into bars while warm.

    CRISPY-CRUNCHY GRANOLA MUNCHIES

    1/3 cup honey
    4 tablespoons unsalted butter
    3 cups old-fashioned oats
    1 cup mixed nuts
    1/2 cup sweetened coconut flakes
    1/4 cup hulled green pumpkin seeds
    1/4 cup sunflower seeds
    1/2 teaspoon salt
    1/2 cup raisins
    1/4 cup dried cranberries
    1/4 cup dried blueberries
    1/4 cup dried banana chips

    1. Make sure the oven rack is in the center position and preheat the oven
    to 325 degrees F.
    2. Combine the honey and butter in a small saucepan. Heat on low heat and
    stir until melted. Remove from the heat.
    3. Combine the oats, mixed nuts, coconut, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds,
    and salt in a large bowl. Stir with a large wooden spoon to mix well.
    4. Pour the honey butter over the oat mixture and stir until well combined.
    5. Spread the granola evenly in a thin layer on a baking sheet.
    6. Bake, stirring every 5 minutes with a wooden spoon to prevent the
    granola from sticking or burning, until fragrant and golden brown, about 20
    minutes. (Do not overcook - the granola will crisp as it cools.)
    7. Using oven mitts or pot holders, remove the baking sheet from the oven
    and place on a wire rack to cool. When completely cooled, transfer the
    granola to a large mixing bowl and stir in the dried fruit.
    8. Transfer to an airtight container and store at room temperature for up
    to 1 week.

    Yield: yield 6

    GRANOLA BARS

    3/4 cup packed brown sugar
    1/2 cup honey
    1/4 cup water
    1 teaspoon salt
    1/2 cup butter
    3 cups rolled oats
    1 cup toasted chopped nuts
    1 cup wheat germ
    1/4 cup sesame seeds or flax seeds
    1 1/2 cup dried fruit (combination of anythin; g you
    like)

    In a large pan, combine sugar, butter, honey, water, and salt. Bring to a
    simmer and cook for 5 minutes. Stir in oats, nuts, wheat germ, and sesame
    seeds. Cook, stirring frequently, for 15 minutes. Remove from heat and add
    fruit. Pour onto a cookie sheet or jelly roll pan lined with wax paper or
    parchment. Cut the 'dough' into bars of desired size, so you can break
    along the cut lines when cool. Allow to cool for 30 minutes. Break along
    score lines. Store in an airtight container.

    NUTRI-GRAIN BARS
    1 pkg yellow cake mix
    3/4 cup butter
    2 1/2 cups quick oats
    12 ounces preserves or jam
    1 T water

    Preheat oven to 375. Melt butter. Combine cake
    mix and oats in a large bowl; stir in the melted
    butter until the mixture is crumbly. Measure half
    of this mixture (about 3 cups) into a greased
    13x9x2-inch pan. Press firmly into pan to cover
    the bottom.
    Combine preserves and water; spoon over crumb
    mixture in pan, and spread evenly. Cover with
    remaining crumb mixture. Pat firmly to make top
    even.
    Bake at 375 for 20 minutes--top should be very
    light brown. Cool completely before cutting into
    bars.

    SOFT GRANOLA BARS

    3 cups quick cooking oats
    1/2 cup packed brown sugar
    1/4 cup wheat germ
    1/2 cup butter
    1/4 cup corn syrup
    1/4 cup honey
    1/2 cup chocolate chips
    1/2 cup sweet flaked coconut

    Combine the oats, sugar and wheat germ. Cut in the butter until the mixture
    is crumbly. Stir in the corn syrup and honey. Add the chocolate chips and
    coconut. Press into a greased 9 inch square pan. Bake at 350 F oven for 20
    to 25 minutes. Let cool 10 minutes then cut into bars.
