I live in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and I have used the kits
for windows. Anything between you and the cold helps. I found that
with the plastic on the inside of the window, the gap between the
glass and plastic created moisture that mildewed the wooden window
frame. It worked better for us to staple plastic on the outside.
You’ll need a heavier gauge plastic for the outside than those kits
come with. We’ve had -30 temps lately with -70 windchills, so if it
works for us here in “dah UP” it’ll work for you in Texas.
Happy stapling!
