    HELP WITH TICK PROBLEM

I don't know how to prevent them... but I do know that if you have to get them
out of your skin a little tea tree oil on a cotton swab rubbed by them will make
them pull out without any damages.

If you get a tick on you or a pet, you can put vasoline right on it. It will
smoother them and you will be able to pick it right out - dead.... My mom's dog
had one on the top of her head, put (imbedded), we put vasoline on it and it
    came out within an hour.

I have been using a product called "Bug Off Garlic" on my dogs. Last year
we were infested with ticks, both inside and out. So far this year I have
    only found 4 ticks total.
I was using "Frontline" but I really was having a problem putting it on my
pets and then telling the children that they couldn't pet the dogs for a
    day.
The cheapest place that I have found the "Bug Off" is www. petwebstore.com.

    Hope this helps,

Add some garlic powder to the flax oil and brewers yeast. It helps repel
fleas, I think it repels ticks too. You can also make an herbal sachet
collar to wear to repel ticks too.

Thanks very much for the information. I will look at those sites and see
what I can find out. The garlic idea sounds interesting. I think I have
some garlic powder. Plus I have some canned minced garlic.

Nadine, I give my dogs a 1200mg garlic pill every day. Keeps fleas & ticks off.
I also take a garlic pill myself to keep them off me when I do my gardening. I
get chiggers when picking my raspberries and this keeps them away or heals me
    when I do get them.

You might also check with your vet. My guys get Frontline Plus, but it says
right on the box that it only repels American Dog Ticks, and to check with
your local vet to see what types of ticks are in your area and what is best
    to use on them.

I sprinkled some dry garlic on her food this morning. She is a chow hound
and wants to eat all the time, but she has a heart murmur and her vet wants
her to loose some weight. She is not overweight, but she is a smaller dog
weighing in about 17.5 -- 18 pounds. But, the vet wants her at a lean 16.
So, we cut her food down a little bit and then had a handful of frozen green
beans. Put flax oil, some brewers yeast, and now the garlic on that. She
has had problems with itchy skin and the brewers yeast and e-mail seem to
really help with that. In addition she gets half of a dental doggie every
day. She will be five years old and has yet to have her teeth cleaned. The
vet says they are in perfect condition.
