Have you tried making your own fabric softener? I do all the time. The recipe is really simple 2 cups baking soda, 2 cups white vinegar, and 4 cups water. Mix well. Be careful baking soda and vinegar will produce a foaming gas. I do this and add about 1 cup of cheap fabric softener to it in the winter for static cling.
