I use L-Lysine on a regular basis, too. I don't have fever blisters

when I take it. Can your reaction be to the "filler" ingredients in

    the supplement?

You can buy L-Lysine pretty much where vitimins are sold. I keep a bottle in my medicine cabinet and when my son feels the on-set of a coldsore, he takes between 1-2 pills a day and, if he takes it in time, will stop the coldsore from appearing. If he waits until after the appearance of the coldsore, it speeds up the healing time. It reallyworks great for him and the bottleis anywhere between$4 and$6 dollars for about 50tablets (or something like that).

If you are talking about Lysine I have used it at the first sign of a cold sore.

(usually itchy lips) It prevents it from ever forming fully, if taken

immediately and know one will ever know that you even had a cold sore, but you.

I will take 3 a day until the fever blister is gone. WORKS GREAT!

I bought some for my cold sores, but the pills are huge and actually

got stuck in my throat. Glasses of water later, it finally

dissolved enough to go down. Even breaking it in half, it is not

coated or anything and gets stuck or hard to get down. Do you think

it would as effective as dissolving the tablet and then drinking a

small amount of liquid with the powdered pill inside? Or maybe

crush it and put it in some yogurt?

I don't think there would be a problem crushing the pill and adding it to

liquid, I do agree they are large. But I don't remember reading anything about

taking them whole. Good luck and don't give up on them. L-lysine is great.

I used to get mine at Trader Joe’s. I am sure
that you can probably find this supplement at any health food store or GNS like
store. I believe it is an amino acid??? If I remember correctly. ? It
helps your body’s immunity ward off the herpes virus. When it is
depleted in your body any herpes virus, including cold sores, fever blisters,
canker sores or genital sores can flourish more easily and frequently.
Don’t quote me here but this is what I remember about it. Lisa

We use L Lysine all the time - I never thought about using it on the animals.
We always use it at the beginning of a cold/canker sore. Works great.

I cut mine in half and then take it.

I have a problem with pills getting stuck in my throat too.

Pill makers, what are they thinking?

I've been taking pills for one thing or another all my life. I

learned quite young to take a drink before I take a big pill and it

helps. In fact, one trick I learned is to hold the pill under my

tongue or in my cheek and to dislodge it as I do a series of swallows

and it's not in the first 2 swallows. The pills go down quite

easily. A friend uses the trick of eating a piece of buttered bread

and it helps him. Only one bite of the buttered bread works for him.

    <font size="2" color="blue" face="Comic Sans MS">11.0pt;font-family:"Comic Sans MS";color:blue;">An even easier
way to take big pills is to do it with some really thick liquid. The
thicker the liquid the easier to got the pill down. So use either a
spoonful of jell-o or apple sauce.
