Graduation Dress- Budget101 Discussion List

I will be graduating from grad school in 3 weeks, and am just buried in schoolwork, so I have no time to go shopping for a dress. After years of taking care of children and being a student, there is nothing even remotely appropriate in my closet! I'm looking for suggestions of websites

I will be graduating from grad school in 3 weeks, and am just buried in

of taking care of children and being a student, there is nothing even

remotely appropriate in my closet! I'm looking for suggestions of

websites that would have stylish, but classy dresses (these pictures

will be around for a long time!) that aren't too expensive. It's hard

to find dresses to fit me, because I'm smaller on the top than the

hips/belly. So, I'll probably need to order several, hope that one

fits, and send back the rest. Free shipping would help.

    Thanks,

    Suzanne

Instead of a dress, why not go with two separates - a skirt or trouser pants

with even a light jacket. It sounds like that may be more beneficial to

you as far as fit and more appropriate for months/years to come?

    Congrats on the graduation!

I agree Chadwick's is a good source of inexpensive clothing but in the

past I have had mixed results with them.

will you be wearing a cap & gown? If so, then what you wear on your

body isn't so important, since it will be covered up! Focus on some

    nice makeup, something natural looking.

If you do need a dress, sounds like something like an A-line dress or

    other belly-hiding outfit would work.

When I graduated from grad school, I wore the same dress I wore when I

graduated as an undergraduate, a sleeveless 100% cotton tank dress.

Hides any belly, went down to my ankles, didn't overheat me in the cap/

gown, and I can dress it up or down. 20 years after graduating from

    college I still wear it!!!

    Good luck!

    Stephanie

I have found nice things at www.target.com and also www.fashionbug.com

I was able to order dresses from both for special occasions and target.com if they don't work you can just return to the store with packing slip.
