Black Beans and Rice II- Dirt Cheap Dinners

This is a wee bit different from the other recipes posted;-D Black Beans and Rice II 1-12 oz pkg black beans 7 cups water 8 cloves garlic, minced 2 onions, chopped 2 green peppers, chopped 1/3 cup olive oil ham bone 4 tsp salt

beans, black, chopped, rice, onion, water, vinegar, ingredients, soup, simmer, combine, overnight, cover, drain, hours, serve, serving, garnish, serves, tender, liquid, tick, soak, scallions, recipes, minced, onions, peppers, green, garlic, cloves, cups, 1-12, posted-d, pepper, salt, olive, bone

    Fire Black Beans and Rice II


    This is a wee bit different from the other recipes posted;-D
    Black Beans and Rice II
    1-12 oz pkg black beans
    7 cups water
    8 cloves garlic, minced
    2 onions, chopped
    2 green peppers, chopped
    1/3 cup olive oil
    ham bone
    4 tsp salt
    1 tsp black pepper

    3 tbs vinegar
    1/2 cup chopped onion and scallions
    Soak beans overnight in water to cover. Drain beans. Combine black beans with next 8 ingredients in a soup pot. Simmer for 3 to 4 hours or until beans are tender and liquid is tick. Add vinegar just before serving. Serve over rice and garnish with chopped onion. Serves 8.

    I bought a can of black beans by accident once. I used them in chili. I loved it. I will never use another kind of bean again for my chili. thank you for posting this, it gives me other ideas to do with the black beans.

    If you try it, let me know how you like it. Do you use dried beans? I prefer dried beans as I can season them as I like to;-D

    I actually use both dried and canned depending on how fast I need diner to be done.

    i'm scared they will never leave. I haave 6 years for one and the last one has 11 years...then there is hubby. LOL!

    a friend told me once, when the kids get old enough start burning all food. they will want to leave at that point. if you keep cooking nice meals the kids will never leave.

    funny you should ask...this past week most of the meals were 'good' I 'browned' almost everything I touched. LOL! next week I am saving my time and serving kingsford.

    this sounds like something my family would enjoy minus the ham bone, maybe substitute some other form of meat we can eat
